KEEPING SCORE™
By Edward H. Sehon
What a great run. Scott
Sehon and Dave Bronfenbrenner completed their epic 3,250-mile cross-country journey
on Saturday, August 2, in the chilly waters of the Pacific near Florence, OR. A joyful group of friends and relatives from
around the nation was on hand to celebrate their achievement.
Both young men were hairier, healthier and wiser than when
they began their unassisted trek from the Atlantic near Sea Bright, N.J., in
late February. Having averaged more
than 20-miles-per-day for 160 days, they laid a firm foundation for breaking
the 2-hour, 22-minute marathon qualifying standard to enter next year’s U.S.
Olympic Trials.
In the meantime, Dave heads off to graduate school at Cal Berkley,
while Scott returns to his job as an insurance underwriter in Philadelphia. Next scheduled joint appearance: the Chicago Marathon in October.
