thanks for the note. i've traded a few e-mails with james since finishing the trip. most recenlt last week to wish him luck at trials. sorry to hear that he was under the weather. i wanted so desperately to be down there to spectate. i had a pass to the press truck for race day and full credentials, but things here at home prevented me from making the trip. if you're gonna be in sacramento this summer for the trials, please let me know. i 'll be ther for all 11 days. can't wait!

I followed your trek last year from the early days when Runner's World online mentioned that you two had been by that day.
Today I read the article in Running Times and enjoyed that also. The pictures and layout were great.
Remember James McGown, the teacher in Shelton, Nebraska, with whom you stayed? I saw him again and his family for the first time this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Trials. Unfortunately, he had been sick with a virus the week before the race and was not able to run what he expected. He said it would give him cause to train hard for next year.
